Willie and Nikita in the Zsa Zsa Gown

The stars aligned for Nikita and Willie when their dream wedding was made possible this year. They booked the wedding in one day, securing their venue, photographer, makeup artist, hair stylist and videographer all at once.

The Love Story

Willie and Nikita crossed paths as young adults, meeting through a common friend. Nikita admits the first encounter didn’t go too smoothly. “Willie decided to sit in the backseat of my car and sat right on top of my new dress I had just bought”, she recalls. However, it didn’t deter Nikita entirely, and their love story blossomed. Years into the relationship, Nikita realised Willie was the one for her. He was kind, humble, generous, and caring. “He always encouraged me and did everything he could for me,” the bride shares.

By the time they were officially together, Willie would drive home five hours to surprise her whenever he was able to. If that wasn’t sweet enough, the proposal was even more heartwarming. It all happened when Willie had taken their daughter for a walk as Nikita was getting things sorted in their hotel in Cronulla, Sydney, NSW. As Nikita walked down to the windy beach, she discovered her soon-to-be fiancé surrounded by balloons swirling uncontrollably with a message she couldn’t quite put together. As soon as Nikita walked over to Willie and her daughter, a picnic was set up, and luckily, their little girl was wearing a shirt that read,Mum, will you marry Dad,” which saved the proposal.

An Intimate Wedding Theme

Years into their engagement, the couple realized they never had a chance to plan or think about a wedding while raising their two children. It all happened when they eventually decided to tie the knot. All the stars aligned, and they organized the entire wedding in only one day, from the venue and photographer to the makeup and hairstylist.

Their special day unfolded on October 27, 2023, in Rosewood Park, New South Wales. The wedding was small and intimate, taking place in Griffith surrounded by the newlyweds' nearest and dearest. The overall atmosphere was filled with love, cocktails, and some of the very best dance moves. The couple's brief was a simple yet elegant theme and a few personal touches. Nikita’s Mm handcrafted all their florals, and her sister created all her stationery. “We are lucky enough to have local talent who helped make our signage dreams come to life,” the bride shares.

When the couple visited the Rosewood Park venue, it felt like a blessing to their little town. They were incredibly excited to have their ceremony and reception held at the same place. The venue exuded stunning views, a bespoke backdrop, and was filled with love. “Marg and Mick maintain the whole garden themselves, and the love and care that goes into it represented what we wanted in our marriage,” Nikita shares.

Having their children there to celebrate not only was a blessing but a meaningful way to feel united as a family. “The best part was to be surrounded by all our nearest and dearest,” the bride recalls.

Nikita’s Bridal Journey

Although Nikita had her sights set on becoming a Grace bride, little did she know she would not end up wearing lace. She had dreamt of wearing one of our lace gowns, however ended up selecting a different dress when browsing on our website. When Nikita discovered the Zsa Zsa gown it was love at first sight.

Unfortunately, there were no sizes available at the time. However, she messaged our bridal stylists, who were able to find a very last one available in her size. “The care and help I received from Grace Loves Lace was just the icing on the cake.

Their time, kindness, and support made the dress even more special,” the bride shares. Having selected her gown, Nikita turned her attention to the Pierlot Veil, only to discover it was out of stock. Luckily, she teamed up with one of our bridal stylists, and voila... found the last one available! “I wore this for my ceremony and then used the Zsa Zsa back piece and leg piece for my reception.

Words of Wisdom

Nikita's advice to other brides is to "not make it about other people" as it is your special day. Always do what makes you happy and fully enjoy it. Weddings don’t always have to cost a fortune either. Whether you want to celebrate your wedding day with a grand celebration or a minimalistic one, do what feels right.
