What is a Grace Woman to you?

Stylish and non traditional.

Which Grace dress did you choose and how did you know it was 'The One'?

The Inca dress with the nude lining. I had been looking at dresses online and on Pinterest and always loves ones with long sleeves and low backs and the Inca definitely ticks those boxes! I tried on a few different Grace Loves Lace dresses which were all amazing but I didn’t love them as much as the Inca, it was actually the first dress I tried on.

Tell us about your experience when you found your dress, did you buy your wedding dress online or in one of our showrooms?

I was living in New York when I began looking for my wedding dress and I didn’t want to go and try on dresses without my mum and sister who live in the UK so I booked an appointment at the Shoreditch showroom in London for my next trip back to the UK. The showroom is beautiful and we had a really lovely time in there trying on different styles and having some champagne.

How did you feel in your dress on the day?

I felt really comfortable and effortless in my dress. I loved that you could just step into it without zips, endless buttons or any of the fuss that comes with lots of wedding dresses!

Where did you get married?
Tell us about the location & the style of your wedding day.

We got married in a field by the River Trent in Derbyshire, England. The location is a few miles away from my parent’s house and where I grew up so it was lovely to be able to get ready in my family home.We had our ceremony outside by the river under a big wooden arch that my dad had made. Our reception was in 2 giant Tipis decorated with seasonal British wild flowers and foliage and the styling was kept rustic and boho, which felt in keeping without the surrounding. All the food on the day was sharing style and we had a big tin bath with all the drinks in. We had giant jenga and a coconut shy to keep the guests entertained through out the day and a soul band in the evening. We wanted the day to feel like one big fun relaxed party, which I think we managed to achieve!

Tell us about your hair and makeup look
and the accessories you chose…

I wore my half up in a braid with loose curls, I don’t like my hair looking too neat and ‘done’ so we kept it a bit messy and wild, I wore two star hair pins by Victoria Percival Accessories. For my make up on the day, I wanted it to look like how I usually wear it but with the help of a professional! Josephine Way my makeup artist did an amazing job on all the bridal party and our makeup stayed in place all day and night.

What made your day extra special?

We had always planned and hoped to have the ceremony outside by the river but as the wedding was held in England this was always a bit risky with our unpredictable weather! So we were super lucky that we got a perfect English summers day and we were able to have the ceremony in the sunshine and all our guests could spend the day outdoors enjoying the weather, especially as the next day it poured down with rain all day long!

The funniest moment on the day was…

When our Pageboy started shouting rude words to make everybody laugh during the official family photos!

Where will you be honeymooning?

We went on a 3 week road trip of Italy for our Honeymoon, starting at the stop and ending at the bottom. It was perfect.

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share…

Plan the day that’s right for you as a couple and enjoy every moment!
